I think it depends on the purpose of these meetings. If the idea is to just report progress, then maybe offline updates are fine.
Rather you can pull these updates directly from JIRA (and I am sure other tools would provide this too).
The purpose of these meetings should be to measure how everyone as a team is doing against goals. It's to validate over and over again that the team is not drifted away from their main objectives, to understand how we can do better through collaboration, what kind of challenges people in the team are facing and how we can collectively solve them. In the end, there's a lot of learning from each other if done right.
But, that's just my perspective.
